John has been passionately leading in safety for over 5 years in the new home residential construction, and land development industry.  Since 2003,  he has been, and continues to be, the Safety Manager for Carma Developers, one of Alberta’s largest land developers in residential community construction.

The scope of safety at Carma includes five divisions:  Housing; Head Office; Residential Land Development; Commercial; and Residents Associations.

John not only ensures safety for his 300 employees, but is also charged with the prime contractor responsibility to ensure over 340 Employers are complying with the Alberta OH&S legislation.

Qualifications include:

• National Construction Safety Officer since 2002
• Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
• Nearing completion of obtaining certificate from the university of New Brunswick:  Certificate in Health, Safety, and Environmental Practices (CHSEP)
• Member in good standing CSSE
• Past Chairman Calgary Region Homebuilders Association safety committee
• Alberta Urban Development Institute Safety Committee – Calgary Region -member in good standing
• Alberta Construction Safety Association – member in good standing

John brings a unique and practical view of how to implement a system and process to reduce the potential for liability as a prime contractor and to ensure workplaces are as safe as they can be.
