John was brought to architecture through the study of science. "Architecture is about the science of art, and the definition of ideas not normally associated with the tangible.”
John has a well thought out approach to architecture and says, "Essentially, architecture is the practice of making space. But good Architecture is also tasked with being a catalyst for the betterment of the human condition. This is what it should strive to do."
Part of his philosophy includes a passion for sustainable design. Some of his initiatives include beginning a dialogue with the City of Calgary on potential implementation of green roof strategy incentives for the city centre, and he recently conducted a sustainable design studio at his alma mater, The University of Calgary.
John is presently working at Marshall Tittemore Architects in Calgary, Alberta.
